Hyundai Santa Fe: Intake And Exhaust System / Exhaust Manifold. Repair procedures

Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle
(floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when
raising the vehicle using the lift.
(Refer to General Information - "Lift and Support Points")

1. |
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
|
2. |
Remove the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly System - "Engine cover")
|
3. |
Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly System - "Engine Room Under
Cover")
|
4. |
Disconnect the front oxygen sensor connectors (A).
|
5. |
Remove the front muffler.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust Manifold - "Front Muffler")
|
6. |
Remove the exhaust manifold stay (A).
Tightening torque :
Bolts (B) : 18.6 - 27.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.8 kgf.m, 13.7 - 20.3 lb-ft)
Bolts (C) : 52.0 - 57.9 N.m (5.3 - 5.9 kgf.m, 38.3 - 42.7 lb-ft)

Remove the drive shaft heat protector (A).
Tightening torque
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

8. |
Remove the engine mounting support bracket.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Mounting")
|
9. |
Remove the exhaust manifold (A).
Tightening torque
49.0 - 53.9 N.m (5.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 39.8 lb-ft)

10. |
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket (A).
|
11. |
Install in the reverse order of removal.

When installing the exhaust manifold, with a new gasket.
|
• |
When installing the exhaust manifold, tighten the nuts
with pre-torque first and then tighten the nuts with
specified torque in the sequence shown.
